Women of Our World : Sylvia Van Velzer

A former advertising and fashion model, Sylvia pioneered and successfully ran one of Manila’s top and professional modeling agency, “Ms”. She later moved on to join the corporate world when she became Director of several companies under GY Holdings Inc. with interests in Petroleum, Trading, Real Estate, Manpower and Communications. She retired from business in 1995 and pursued her passion for writing and designing. She has written for several magazines and designed Marketing collaterals for various companies and organizations. She has spearheaded major events, conferences, fundraisings and actively supports works of charity, such as “Dusk to Dawn”, a street children ministry in the Philippines.

Currently, Sylvia works as a Marketing Consultant for Remit PI, Hawaii, a company owned by her daughter Anna Matsui. She is completing several book projects and as a photo hobbyist, she is preparing to launch her “Vivid DigiArt” collection this year. (ViVid Images, LLC) Sylvia is married to Herman Van Velzer Jr. an Investment Management and Insurance businessman with bases in Asia and Europe.
